How should a homeowner prepare for a siding replacement?
Trim or remove any overgrown shrubs to make it easier for the crew to complete work around the home without destroying plants or landscaping. On the interior of the home remove anything from the walls that could potentially be knocked down from banging and normal construction processes. Make sure the siding crew doesn’t feel like they have to find their way through an obstacle course to get to your house. Put all outdoor décor in the garage for now. Is my contractor required to be licensed in Massachusetts?
Yes, the contractor in the state of Massachusetts is required to be licensed in order to obtain permits and carry appropriate insurances. The contractor should carry General Liability and Workers Compensation policies that are active and meet state requirements so both you and the contractor are protected. Your contractor should gladly provide you with a copy of their Home Improvement Contractors License (HIC), and a copy of their General Liability and Workers Compensation Insurance upon request.
How do I pay for my siding project?
Normal processes to pay for your home improvement projects in Massachusetts require an initial deposit at the time of contract signing of 33%. There is an additional 17% deposit due at the time the project officially starts at your home and scheduled payments made during the duration of your full project build to completion.
